Status: Part-time/Temporary/Seasonal (PTS) position, non-exempt

Reporting Relationship: Reports to Facilities Supervisor
The Facilities Division is responsible for the daily operations, preventive maintenance, remodeling and long term maintenance programs of the major facilities owned by the City and spaces leased by the City. Total square footage of these facilities is about 1 million square feet. The major facilities include the City Center, Community Center, Senior Center, Water Plant, Utilities Garage, Maintenance Facility, four Fire Stations, Building 51, the Den Road Liquor Store, the Outdoor Center, Park Shelters and Historical Buildings. The leased spaces include 2 of the 3 Liquor Stores and the Housing and Community Services space at the Eden Prairie Mall.
The Facilities Attendant supports the Facilities Division to ensure smooth operations by effectively keeping the facilities safe, clean, and efficient. The primary position responsibilities and areas of impact are:
1) Maintains the City ice rinks and pool facilities by performing ice rink refrigeration maintenance, pool maintenance, and ice re-surfacing operations.
2) Provides service to customers for effective and efficient execution of City events (i.e. set-up and breakdown of facilities, meeting and event set-up, and assembly); provides a safe, friendly and enjoyable atmosphere for all community center guests.
3) Assists building engineers with monitoring equipment to ensure that the building’s systems perform efficiently and safely.
4) Maintains and improves the appearance and operation of City facilities by performing minor repairs.
5) Supports division cross-function initiatives by developing skills, applying technical knowledge, and assisting with projects.
While these areas are the primary focus of the position, we believe strongly in teamwork and employees will be called upon to perform a variety of duties as a part of their role with the City.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.); technical degree in related field preferred.
Work Experience: Preferred Experience in a Community Center operations including ice rinks, pool, fitness center, gym, and meeting rooms; experience in repair and maintenance of building systems and equipment preferred.
Physical Requirements: This position requires the ability to lift/pull/push/move/carry up to 30 lbs, and the ability to bend/stand/reach.
St. Croix Valley Recreation Center
POSITION TITLE: Skating School Coordinator
DEPARTMENT: St. Croix Valley Recreation Center
REPORTS TO: Facilities Manager
POSITION SUMMARY: To organize and direct the programming of the learn to skate
school at the St. Croix Valley Recreation Center. This position is responsible for the development of the skating
school curriculum; supervision of skating professionals, assistants and volunteers. Responsible for the organization,
direction, and administration of session registration and classes, along with development and operations of annual ice show.
To grow the sport of ice skating in the St. Croix Valley.
ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:
1. Review, prepare or revise Skating School curriculum as necessary; structure classes for systematic progression
and development of skating skills; make program recommendations to the Facility manager when appropriate.
2. Responsible for the supervision and direction of the instructional staff. Assign staff to the organized classes.
Assist instructors with the teaching methodology; secure substitutes; and administer performance evaluations of teaching staff.
3. Perform a variety of administrative functions in carrying out the Skating School Program including: prepare program publicity,
schedule instructors, register and classify students, requisition programming supplies, communicate with parents, prepare program

props, scheduling of staff, disbursement of money, tracking of costs, rehearsal schedules, photography, volunteer scheduling,

6. Responsible for preparing, developing and reviewing skating program and budget.
7. Establish positive working relationship with local youth associations and high schools.
8. Be familiar with and be able to perform routine office procedures.
9. Responsible for completing employee performance evaluations.
10. Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Knowledge of various teaching methodology for ice skating such as the I.S.I. or U.S.F.S.A. programs.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and writing
Ability to work effectively with co-workers, youth, adults and the public
General knowledge of computers.
Experience in the production of skating shows.
Background in figure skating teaching desirable.

Ice Arena / Recreation Position
The City of Cottage Grove is recruiting for a Regular Full-time Recreation Assistant to work
within our expanding Ice Arena and with recreation programming. The position will be assigned
to tasks as required to supervise Ice Arena events including ice resurfacer operation and
maintenance. They will also plan and coordinate various Ice Arena and general recreation
programs. The Ice Arena / Recreation divisions are housed at the Ice Arena, which is receiving
